LEGO 554-1 Exxon Fuel Tanker is a Town Classic set released in 1979, containing 79 pieces and 1 minifigure. The set includes an Exxon-branded semi trailer tank truck and a driver minifigure, and it was released only in the United States as part of a co-branding agreement with Exxon in North America. It is a regional variant of 1978 set 671 Shell Tanker, using the same truck design, and was also known as Fuel Pumper. “This set was only available in the US, since Exxon-labeled sets were not released in Continental Europe, UK, Australia and Canada, just as Shell sets were not released in the US until 1986. It was a variant of 671 Shell Tanker from 1978, which was the same truck in Shell... More livery. On the right side of the vehicle is a decal saying "Happy motoring".”

About Town Classic

The LEGO Town Classic theme, active from 1978 to 1981, introduced foundational sets that established the urban layout concept in the LEGO world. Notable sets include 1592 Town Square Castle Scene, which combined medieval and modern elements, and 381-2 Police Headquarters, a prominent city infrastructure piece. The 379 Bus Station provided public transport centrality, while 600-2 Police Car offered essential city law enforcement. These sets, among others, played a critical role in defining the classic LEGO town aesthetic.

Classic consists of 45 sets that ran from 1978 to 1981. As of today, 1592 Town Square Castle Scene is the most valuable Classic set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $2,573.
