“The Lego 7857 Crossing Electric rail is a re-release of the lego 756 Electric Crossing, but has a different color scheme. In this version of the crossing rail, it includes 5 pieces, and the color is changed from that baby blue color of the rail to a new sleek grey look to... More appeal to wider audience. The track still works the same as the 756, but was a different color and same amount of tracks.”

“This set contains a single rail crossing for 12V trains and comes with 4 sleeper plates. The crossing tracks are electrically isolated. A version for push-along and 4.5V trains is available as set 7853. The grey era came with a great number of track options and accessories.... More Most were released in 1980, including this set 7857.”

About Trains 4.5V / 12V

4512V covers the LEGO trains of the 4.5 V and 12 V systems from the 1970s and 1980s. The 4.5 V trains ran on batteries carried in a wagon or tender, while the 12 V trains drew power from conductor rails laid between the running rails, fed by a transformer with a speed control. Until 1980 the track was blue, which gave these years the name of the Blue Era.

4.5V / 12V consists of 83 sets that ran from 1972 to 1986. As of today, 7750 Steam Engine with Tender is the most valuable 4.5V / 12V set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $6,368.
