Insights

Released via limited mail-order in the late 1980s, Town Bank (set 1490) draws on Classic Town nostalgia with its era-specific bank styling, and sealed examples have been thin on the market and shown notable post-retirement appreciation, while remake risk from modern bank builds remains a moderating factor.

Set Facts

The set is a limited release available through mail order and consists of a bank with interior rooms, a small safe, a black armored truck, two blue chairs, and three minifigures: a banker, a bank teller, and an armored truck driver.
The bank features a night drop, an executive office with a phone, and a teller station.
The armored truck includes a bank sticker, doors, a square windshield, and transports gold bars stored in suitcases.

Brickipedia

“It was a limited release set. It contains 196 pieces to construct a bank, a black armored truck and 3 minifigures. The minifigures include two civilians and a policeman. When turned around it had a few rooms including one with two blue chairs on the top floor and and one... More with a small safe below.”

BrickEconomy Member Review

“This LEGO Town Bank set features a detailed design, including an alarm system, a night deposit drop, and a gated area for the armored truck. The interior includes a teller station, an executive office with classic accessories, and a lobby with double doors, all complemented by three minifigures. While the gold bars add a touch of wealth, the lack of printed money pieces feels like a missed opportunity for a bank-themed set.”
