1995 LEGO Sets

1995 saw the release of 160 sets with 14 of them available for promotions and special releases.While many sets of the later 90s are not necessarily considered collection worthy, a number of sets in 1995 have proved to be solid investments.

Based on the 160 sets released for that year, the retail value was $3,384.24 with a current value of $26,484.05 for the combined new/factory sealed sets. As of present, the best performing theme for 1995 is currently Castle which has seen an average annual growth of upwards of 7% to date. With the 37 sets that year, the Duplo theme had the most released sets.

1995 marked LEGO’s 60th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the LEGO brick, a year of innovation and reflection. LEGO Technic CyberMaster blended mechanical engineering with early computer control, foreshadowing Mindstorms and LEGO’s digital future. For younger builders, LEGO Primo debuted as a pre-DUPLO system introducing infants to basic stacking play. Aquazone launched as LEGO’s first dedicated underwater adventure line, featuring the Aquanauts and Aquasharks. Castle expanded with the Royal Knights faction, while the company mourned the passing of Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, whose System in Play philosophy shaped LEGO’s legacy.
