Jays Brick Blog
“This set, with only 203 pieces accomplishes The LEGO Group's Mission Statement “Inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow" in more ways than one, and as a dad, I found being able to tell her the story of Amelia Earhart, and most importantly that women can do anything that... More men can do a particularly poignant experience that was enabled by this collection of bricks.”

BrickFanatics
“Where some gifts-with-purchase at LEGO.com and in LEGO stores can feel lightweight for the qualifying spend amounts, or in subject matter may only appeal to a select number of collectors or LEGO fans, 40450 Amelia Earhart Tribute is a well-realised promotional LEGO set, able... More to stand as its own model in credibility, collectability and wider audience interest, with historical and educational relevance. If there's one gift-with-purchase to be ready to pick up when available, and hope that the LEGO Group carries decent stock levels of, it's this one.”

The Brick Show
“This brick tribute to one of aviation history’s most daring female pilots is also LEGO’s way of celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8. The LEGO Amelia Earhart Tribute (40450) will be added to your LEGO shopping cart for free once your purchases reach $100 or more.... More And as we expect that this GWP set will be quite popular among LEGO fans and collectors, I’m afraid that it is very likely that this collectible will be out of circulation even before its promo ends on March 14.”

About Gift with Purchase

LEGO Gift with Purchase (GWP) sets are exclusive sets offered by LEGO as a free promotional item when customers make qualifying purchases, either in-store or online. These sets are often available for a limited time and typically require spending a certain amount on LEGO products to receive them. Examples include seasonal sets like holiday-themed builds, limited-edition minifigures, or small versions of popular larger sets. GWP sets are highly sought after by collectors due to their exclusivity and limited availability, adding unique and often theme-specific items to their LEGO collections.

Gift with Purchase was introduced in 2018 and currently consists of 39 sets. As of today, 6510864 Dungeons & Dragons Mimic Dice Box is the most valuable Gift with Purchase set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $136.

Question: What did you want people to learn from this model?
Answer: I am hoping the model of Amelia Earhart can inspire and encourage, not only women, but all people around the world, to be curious and brave about their passions and aspirations – especially when facing rigid traditions, structures or the likes, that tries to keep them down. Passions and aspirations are fragile, and they need nurturing, space and determination to unfold – and that is exactly what Amelia Earhart taught us.

Question: How did you approach the development of the model?
Answer: We started with some blueprints of the red Lockheed 5B Vega plane and tried to find elements that could help bring it to life. It was really important that we kept the model as true to the original as possible; to include the yellow lines, the decorations and the shape of the plane. We really wanted Amelia Earhart to be represented as a Minifigure, so we created an exclusive new design especially for her by including it in...
